Become a Transit Operator

What are the requirements?

1. Minimum Grade 12 education

Proof of Grade 12 education is required as part of the recruitment process. 

2. A valid Class 5 licence is required to apply

Those holding a valid Class 5 licence or higher can apply; however, a Class 2A or Class 1A licence is required upon finishing the 5-week training program.

3. Safe driving record 

As part of your interview process, we will require a review of your current driver’s abstract, which can be obtained from SGI.  

4. Criminal Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Check 

Before starting your first day of work, we will require you to complete a Criminal Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. If you do have a Criminal Record, this does not necessarily exclude you from working as a Transit Operator. We review candidate records on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the standards of the position. This means that if you have a criminal record, it may not prevent you from working with Saskatoon Transit.
