Broadway Bridge service reopens November 1

Broadway Bridge Reopening

Saskatoon Transit service is returning to Broadway Avenue on Saturday, November 1, following the completion of the Broadway Bridge rehabilitation project and the construction of four new Link station platforms.

During the bridge closure, several routes were temporarily detoured to Victoria Avenue and the Traffic Bridge. With work now complete, Route 8 will once again travel along Broadway Avenue.

As part of the transition to the future Link rapid transit system, the number of bus stops on Broadway Avenue has been reduced from eight to four. These new stops align with the Link station platforms and are designed to improve travel time, reliability, and overall efficiency.

What Riders Need to Know

  • Effective Date: Saturday, November 1, 2025
  • Routes Returning: Route 8

Customers booking trips will receive confirmation of their specific pick-up/drop-off location when scheduling their ride.

Riders can plan their Route 8 trip on Broadway Avenue, and get service alerts and real-time bus information on third-party apps like Transit and Google Maps Transit on desktop.

Additional Information

What should riders who used Victoria Avenue during construction do now?

Riders should return to Broadway Avenue and use one of the four new bus stops (future Link Stations), depending on their direction of travel.

What if a stop that was near my destination is no longer available?

Riders may need to adjust by using the nearest new bus stop (future Link Station). Each station platform is designed for accessibility and safety, with improved amenities planned

How does removing bus stops affect travel time?

Reducing bus stops minimizes overall travel time and improves schedule reliability by limiting unnecessary stops, while still providing access for all customers. This allows buses to move more quickly along the street.

Is it reasonable to ask customers to use the bus stops two blocks away?

To balance accessibility with efficient, safe operations, our service standard is to have most people within 450 metres of a bus stop and transit services, with up to 600 metres on High Frequency Corridors like Route 8.
