Prepares the daily payroll, including the calculation of premium pay and maintains related payroll records.
Prepares statistical information of payroll costs for budgeting and accounting.
Determines employees’ eligibility for, and calculates entitlement to, annual vacation and sick pay and maintains related records.
Processes WCB requests including but not limited to earning requests, reversing adjustments and E1 requests.
Processes approved Sick Bank applications and performing all adjustments related to Statutory Holidays and reversals.
Reviews and completes any irregular adjustments required to finalize payroll processing.
Performs the duties of other office staff, as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a recognized one year post-secondary business related program plus, or including:
Introductory Accounting 1
Introductory Accounting 2
Successful completion of the Canadian Payroll Association’s Introduction to Payroll (Level 1) class.
Four years' related payroll experience.
Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and civic employees.
Ability to understand and apply complex collective agreement provisions accurately in the determination of the payroll and benefits.
Skill in the operation of a computer using MS Windows and MS Office software.
