Assistant Coordinator, Payroll Services

Temporary full-time for up to eight months
Duties

1. Assists with the preparation of the daily payroll, including the calculation of premium pay and maintains related payroll records.
2. Maintains records related to other operational statistics, as required.
3. Assists with the daily accounting of transit fares.
4. Responds to enquiries, from the public, concerning Transit Services, as required.
5. Performs the duties of other office staff, as required.
6. Performs the duties of the Coordinator, Payroll Services, as required.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a recognized one year post-secondary business related program, plus or including:
Introductory Accounting 1
Payroll Compliance Legislation
• Two years' payroll experience.
• Knowledge of federal and provincial laws, City regulations and union agreements applicable to payroll.
• Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and civic employees.
• Skill in the operation of a computer with word-processing, spreadsheet and database software in a Windows environment.

Salary
$24.57 to $26.94 per hour (2017 rates)
