Saskatoon Transit operators are the dedicated professionals that keep our passengers moving safely throughout the city. They put safety, courtesy and customer service first to deliver high quality transit services that connect people and neighborhoods.

A number of years ago the Portland Oregon Transit Authority, Trimet, wanted to remind their customers about the job Transit Drivers do on the road serving customers every day. Following in their steps, other transit systems across North America joined in. Last year, Saskatoon Transit and Local 615 of the Amalgamated Transit Union chose to join the celebration. Transit Driver Appreciation Day is held annually on the 17th of Ireland (St Patrick’s Day) or the closest weekday.

Though we strive to recognize their work every day, Saskatoon Transit would like to take a moment to salute our extraordinary transit operators this Friday, March 16 on international Transit Driver Appreciation Day (#TDAD).

“Rain or shine, snow or hail, transit drivers are responsible for the safe transportation of thousands of citizens,” says Jim McDonald, Director of Saskatoon Transit. “I am proud to celebrate the men and women of Saskatoon Transit on this important day.”

“All year long, Saskatoon Transit drivers demonstrate their commitment to delivering outstanding service to the citizens of Saskatoon,” said Saskatoon Transit Manager of Operations Mike Moellenbeck. “I invite our valued customers to join me in thanking our operators.”

In celebration of our nearly 300 operators, Saskatoon Transit will be releasing a short video on social media on Friday March 16th. We invite you to share the video on your Facebook page or Twitter feed and tag @stoontransit with the hashtag #TDAD and show your appreciation by thanking your driver in person as you exit the bus!
