Fans get direct service from downtown

Saskatoon Transit buses leave the Special Events stop downtown (23^rd Street and 2^nd Avenue, outside 2^nd Avenue Lofts) to SaskTel Centre on evening game days at the following times:

5:15 p.m.

5:45 p.m.

6:15 p.m.

6:45 p.m.

Return buses depart the SaskTel Centre directly after the game (9:00 p.m.).

Saskatoon Transit encourages everyone to experience the convenience of using Transit to attend the Blades games all season long. 

Saskatoon Transit buses will leave the Special Events stop downtown (at 23^rd Street and 2^nd Avenue, outside 2^nd Avenue Lofts) to service the Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMA) at SaskTel Centre on Sunday, September 10^th at the following times:

3:30 p.m.

3:45 p.m.

4:10 p.m.

4:25 p.m.

4:45 p.m.

Return buses will depart directly after the show.

Saskatoon Transit encourages everyone taking in pre-award show events at Prairieland Park to consider using Transit.

• CCMA Rock’n Country Cabaret - Friday, September 8

• Route 1 from the downtown terminal to the Exhibition grounds at 6:31 p.m. and every hour until 11:31 p.m.  The last trip is at 12:14 a.m.
• The last bus leaving Hilliard Street and Ruth Street to get other buses is at 11:48 p.m.
• Route 19 runs from downtown to Lorne Ave and Ruth Street at 7:16 p.m. and every hour until 11:16 p.m.
• The last bus leaving Taylor Street and Lorne Avenue will be at 12:05 a.m.

• SiriusXM FanFest - Saturday, September 9

• Route 1 runs from downtown hourly before 10:31 a.m. then every half hour until 5:31 p.m.
• Route 19 runs from the downtown terminal hourly before 11:16 a.m. then every half hour until 5:46 p.m.

Saskatoon Transit will have minor route changes on route 1, 6 and 9 during the Fireworks Festival from 7:00p.m. – 11:00p.m. on Friday, September 1^st and Saturday, September 2^nd.  Downtown terminal bus stops will operate as normal.

• Left Turn only for 19^th Street EB at 2^nd Avenue (full barricading across 19^th Street EB, on the east side of 19^th – traffic coming from the Persephone Parking Lot can still exit onto 19^th Street WB or 2^nd Avenue NB)
• Pylons blocking WB turning lane onto 19^th from Broadway Bridge. (see map)

Starting September 3, Saskatoon Transit will be making slight service adjustments to the following routes to help improve service during peak hours.

15 minute service on 20^th Street and the Meadowgreen neighbourhood between City Centre and Confederation Terminal

10 minute service from ~ 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

• Route 22 Downtown Terminal to University

Additional service on 25^th Street from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.

• Route 40 Evergreen & Route 45 Kenderdine

7.5 minute service from Berini Drive to Place Riel from ~ 7:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

• Route 83 Stonebridge / Centre Mall

Saskatoon Transit wants people to nominate bus stops for improvements or replacement with help of Twitter and Facebook.

The “Bus Stop Blues” Campaign kicks-off today on Saskatoon Transit Twitter, City of Saskatoon Twitter and the City of Saskatoon’s Facebook page.  Over the next three weeks, using the hashtag #busstopbluesyxe, residents will be asked to post a photo and the location of the stop where they would like to see improvements. 

“Saskatoon Transit is listening and reacting to customer feedback,” says Jim McDonald, Director of Saskatoon Transit.  “This is an opportunity to engage with the public and for the public to help shape the future of Saskatoon Transit.  Our goal is to continually improve the transit experience.”

Following the campaign, bus shelters and stops will be chosen for either replacement or renewal.

The Government of Canada has provided more than $1.5 million through the Public Transit Infrastructure Fund (PTIF) for transit shelter improvements and network accessibility throughout the city - $300,000 will be devoted to the bus shelter and stop improvements.  

Saskatoon Transit values input from citizens and these bus shelter upgrades will work toward the principals outlined in the Growth Plan.

Due to a paving project, Saskatoon Transit will close four (4) bus stops on Route 1 from September 5 until September 21.

Intending passengers in the Hilliard Street, Henry and Herman Avenue areas will be able to catch the bus at the temporary stop on Hilliard Street.  Passengers in the Ruth Street area can catch the bus at stop # 3627 located on Ruth Street and St. Patrick Avenue.

As a result of customer feedback and route monitoring, Saskatoon Transit will be making adjustments to select routes beginning on Sunday, July 2 to help improve service. These service changes should allow for a quicker daily commute, reduced wait times and fewer missed connections for customers traveling to-and-from downtown along 22nd Street.

Saskatoon Transit will be making adjustments to the following routes:

• Routes 2/10, 22, 28, 40, 60 and 65 are being adjusted.
• Routes 61, 62 and 63 are new.
• Route 23 Hampton Village/Blairmore will be discontinued as of July 2, 2017. Customers can now use Route 61 Blairmore or Route 63 Hampton Village.

All new schedules are available at saskatoontransit.ca and will be made available at the Transit Customer Service Centre.

Customers will also be able to plan their trip with the updated schedules and real time tracking through Google Transit and Transit App. Transit riders are encouraged to plan their trip in advance and review updated schedules before traveling. 

Take Saskatoon Transit for fast, convenient service to and from the Canada Day celebrations at Diefenbaker Park on Saturday, July 1.

Ride the bus for free from Centre Mall, Market Mall, Lawson Heights Mall or Confederation Mall to Diefenbaker Park. These special routes will operate every 30 minutes between 12 noon and 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. The schedules for these buses can be viewed at optimistcanadadaysaskatoon.com.

As well, Route 1 and Route 19 will be running in the vicinity of Diefenbaker Park via regular Sunday/Holiday service until 9 p.m. Normal fares apply.

Fifteen minutes after the firework show ends, you can also catch a free ride home from Diefenbaker Park with Saskatoon Transit. Four special routes will leave Diefenbaker Park from a temporary stop on Exhibition Grounds Road. Buses will follow a designated route, however, drivers will also stop on request at bus stops or locations where it’s safe to stop.

The four special service routes include:

Bus #1 – will travel to the Downtown Terminal, then continue on 2nd Avenue and Warman Road and will end at the Lawson Heights Mall Terminal.

Bus #2 – will travel to the Downtown Terminal, then continue on 22nd Street and will end at the Confederation Mall Terminal.

Bus #3 – will travel via Ruth Street to the Market Mall Terminal, then continue on Taylor Street and Acadia Drive and will end at the Centre Mall Terminal.

Bus #4 – will travel via 8th Street to the Centre Mall Terminal, then continue on to Central Avenue and 115th Street and will end at the bus stop at Berini Drive and 115th Street.

Access Transit will extend its service hours until midnight on Canada Day so that customers can take in the firework show at Diefenbaker Park. Trips must be booked in advance as per normal booking procedures. Access Transit customers are reminded that subscriptions do not apply on statutory holidays.

Saskatoon Transit will have minor route changes and temporary bus stops in place during the Saskatoon Pride Parade from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 24.

Downtown Terminal bus stops will operate as normal except for Route 6, Route 60 and Route 65 which will have temporary bus stops located on 3rd Avenue southbound, north of 23rd Street.

Route 1 Exhibition/City Centre and Route 6 Broadway/City Centre will service downtown via the University Bridge.
