Saskatoon Transit Detour – Route 19

Due to water main work, Saskatoon Transit will be detouring Route 19 from October 1 until further notice.  The detour will affect the intersection of Ruth Street and Ewart Avenue and both sides of Ruth Street from Louise Avenue to Jarvis Drive.

Avenue C - Route 12 (Airport and City Centre)  

Effective immediately, due to water main work, Route 12 (Airport & City Centre) will be detoured until Friday October 20th.  The detour will affect Avenue C, between 39th Street W. and Circle Drive. 

 

Arlington Avenue and Louise Street - Route 6 and Route 19 

Effective Monday October 2nd due to water main work, Routes 6 (Market Mall), Route 6 (Broadway) and Route 19 will be detoured until Thursday October 5th.  The detour will affect Arlington Avenue and Louise Street.

Saskatoon Transit encourages hockey fans to take public transit from the Special Events Stop downtown (23rd Street and 2nd Avenue, outside 2nd Avenue Lofts) to SaskTel Centre for the game on Wednesday.  Buses leave the Special Event Stop Downtown at the following times:

5:15 p.m.

5:30 p.m.

5:50 p.m.

6:05 p.m.

6:25 p.m.

6:40 p.m.

Buses will depart SaskTel Centre after the concert as they fill up.

Full Buses During AM Peak Hours

Scheduled frequency has increased for the following routes during peak hours.  By adjusting travel schedules by as little as 7.5 minutes on some routes the public can avoid congestion. 

Saskatoon Transit encourages the public to plan their trip using real-time tracking on Google Transit and the Google Maps or Transit App on their mobile device.  

 

AM peak hours

  • Route 2/10 Meadowgreen / City Centre  

15 minute service on 20th Street and the Meadowgreen neighbourhood between City Centre and Confederation Terminal

  • Route 4 Willowgrove

10 minute service to Place Riel from ~ 7:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

  • Route 17 Stonebridge/University

10 minute service from ~ 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

  • Route 22 Downtown Terminal to University

Additional service on 25th Street from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.

With routes 40/45 this provides 7.5 minute service to University

  • Route 40 Evergreen & Route 45 Kenderdine

7.5 minute service from Berini Drive to Place Riel from ~ 7:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

Saskatoon Transit encourages Nickelback fans to rely on public transit to get to the concert this Saturday night.  Buses leave the Special Events Stop downtown (23rd Street and 2nd Avenue, outside 2nd Avenue Lofts) to SaskTel Centre at the following times:

5:35 p.m.

5:50 p.m.

6:10 p.m.

6:25 p.m.

Fans get direct service from downtown

 

Saskatoon Transit buses leave the Special Events stop downtown (23rd Street and 2nd Avenue, outside 2nd Avenue Lofts) to SaskTel Centre on evening game days at the following times:

5:15 p.m.

5:45 p.m.

6:15 p.m.

6:45 p.m.

Return buses depart the SaskTel Centre directly after the game (9:00 p.m.).

Saskatoon Transit encourages everyone to experience the convenience of using Transit to attend the Blades games all season long. 

Saskatoon Transit convenient option: CCMA fans get direct service from downtown

Saskatoon Transit buses will leave the Special Events stop downtown (at 23rd Street and 2nd Avenue, outside 2nd Avenue Lofts) to service the Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMA) at SaskTel Centre on Sunday, September 10th at the following times:

3:30 p.m.

3:45 p.m.

4:10 p.m.

4:25 p.m.

4:45 p.m.

Return buses will depart directly after the show.

 

Saskatoon Transit encourages everyone taking in pre-award show events at Prairieland Park to consider using Transit.

  • CCMA Rock’n Country Cabaret - Friday, September 8
  • Route 1 from the downtown terminal to the Exhibition grounds at 6:31 p.m. and every hour until 11:31 p.m.  The last trip is at 12:14 a.m.
  • The last bus leaving Hilliard Street and Ruth Street to get other buses is at 11:48 p.m.
  • Route 19 runs from downtown to Lorne Ave and Ruth Street at 7:16 p.m. and every hour until 11:16 p.m.
  • The last bus leaving Taylor Street and Lorne Avenue will be at 12:05 a.m.
  • SiriusXM FanFest - Saturday, September 9
  • Route 1 runs from downtown hourly before 10:31 a.m. then every half hour until 5:31 p.m.
  • Route 19 runs from the downtown terminal hourly before 11:16 a.m. then every half hour until 5:46 p.m.

Saskatoon Transit would like to encourage students to consider transit as a transportation option for this academic year. Many of Saskatoon Transit’s regular routes service school areas and special high school and university express routes (bottom of the page) have been established to provide enhanced service for students.

The transit experience:

Saskatoon Transit Fireworks Festival Detour - September 1st & 2nd, 2017

Saskatoon Transit will have minor route changes on route 1, 6 and 9 during the Fireworks Festival from 7:00p.m. – 11:00p.m. on Friday, September 1st and Saturday, September 2nd.  Downtown terminal bus stops will operate as normal. 

Location

  • 19th Street between 2nd Avenue and 4th Avenue
  • Full closure of 4th Avenue SB at 20th Street, full closure of 3rd Avenue SB at 20th Street
  • Right Turn only for 2nd Avenue SB at 19th Street
  • Left Turn only for 19th Street EB at 2nd Avenue (full barricading across 19th Street EB, on the east side of 19th – traffic coming from the Persephone Parking Lot can still exit onto 19th Street WB or 2nd Avenue NB)
  • Pylons blocking WB turning lane onto 19th from Broadway Bridge. (see map)

Saskatoon Transit Service Adjustments - Effective September 3, 2017

Starting September 3, Saskatoon Transit will be making slight service adjustments to the following routes to help improve service during peak hours.

High Frequency in the AM peak hours

  • Route 2/10 Meadowgreen / City Centre  

15 minute service on 20th Street and the Meadowgreen neighbourhood between City Centre and Confederation Terminal

  • Route 4 Willowgrove

10 minute service to Place Riel from ~ 7:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

  • Route 17 Stonebridge/University

10 minute service from ~ 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

  • Route 22 Downtown Terminal to University

Additional service on 25th Street from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.

  • Route 40 Evergreen & Route 45 Kenderdine

7.5 minute service from Berini Drive to Place Riel from ~ 7:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

  • Route 83 Stonebridge / Centre Mall

Minor re-routing: will travel via Preston Avenue between Taylor Street and Market Mall

  • Route 101 & 102 University direct

Only one trip in the AM

 

High Frequency in the PM peak hours

  • Route 22 University to Downtown Terminal  

Additional service on 25th Street from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
