Transit Service for Canada Day at Diefenbaker Park

Take Saskatoon Transit for fast, convenient service to and from the Canada Day celebrations at Diefenbaker Park on Saturday, July 1.

Ride the bus for free from Centre Mall, Market Mall, Lawson Heights Mall or Confederation Mall to Diefenbaker Park. These special routes will operate every 30 minutes between 12 noon and 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. The schedules for these buses can be viewed at optimistcanadadaysaskatoon.com.

As well, Route 1 and Route 19 will be running in the vicinity of Diefenbaker Park via regular Sunday/Holiday service until 9 p.m. Normal fares apply.

Fifteen minutes after the firework show ends, you can also catch a free ride home from Diefenbaker Park with Saskatoon Transit. Four special routes will leave Diefenbaker Park from a temporary stop on Exhibition Grounds Road. Buses will follow a designated route, however, drivers will also stop on request at bus stops or locations where it’s safe to stop.

The four special service routes include:

Bus #1 – will travel to the Downtown Terminal, then continue on 2nd Avenue and Warman Road and will end at the Lawson Heights Mall Terminal.

Bus #2 – will travel to the Downtown Terminal, then continue on 22nd Street and will end at the Confederation Mall Terminal.

Bus #3 – will travel via Ruth Street to the Market Mall Terminal, then continue on Taylor Street and Acadia Drive and will end at the Centre Mall Terminal.

Bus #4 – will travel via 8th Street to the Centre Mall Terminal, then continue on to Central Avenue and 115th Street and will end at the bus stop at Berini Drive and 115th Street.

Access Transit will extend its service hours until midnight on Canada Day so that customers can take in the firework show at Diefenbaker Park. Trips must be booked in advance as per normal booking procedures. Access Transit customers are reminded that subscriptions do not apply on statutory holidays.

Transit Bus Stops & Routes Temporarily Relocated During Pride Parade on Saturday

Saskatoon Transit will have minor route changes and temporary bus stops in place during the Saskatoon Pride Parade from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 24.

Downtown Terminal bus stops will operate as normal except for Route 6, Route 60 and Route 65 which will have temporary bus stops located on 3rd Avenue southbound, north of 23rd Street.

Route 1 Exhibition/City Centre and Route 6 Broadway/City Centre will service downtown via the University Bridge.

Transit Bus Stops Closed on 20th Street, Winnipeg Avenue & 18th Street During Resurfacing Work

From Monday, June 26 to Friday, June 30, Transit bus stops will be closed on 20th Street between Avenue W and Vancouver Avenue and on Winnipeg Avenue and 18th Street while road resurfacing work is completed. Buses will not travel on these streets during construction and will reopen on Saturday, July 1 weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Affected routes include:

  • Route 2
  • Route 10

Temporary bus stops will be placed at 19th Street and Montreal Avenue, 20th Street and Avenue W and 21st Street and Whitney Avenue.
